The U.S. Congressional-Executive Commission on China recently released its annual report on Human rights in China. The document provides a highly detailed, in-depth analysis of how the Chinese Communist Party is systematically and secretly murdering large numbers of its own population.
On October 10th, the U.S. Congressional-Executive Commission on China or CECC released its annual report of 2012 on the developments in human rights and rule of law in China. The report mentioned a new finding that due to a variety of internal factors, many Chinese people are beginning to demand their basic human rights from Party leaders.
However, the Chinese Communist Party still holds on to its policy of “stability maintenance”. They don’t seek political reform despite such an eventful year.
The report also mentioned the surge of social media and microblog users in China, which has some positive effects in promoting democracy in China. However, the CCP continues to suppress media and strengthen Internet censorship. Workers are still unable to organize unions freely and their rights still lack effective protection. Specifically, the report criticized the CCP’s terrible record in suppressing writers, lawyers and dissidents.
The report pointed out that the CCP continues its repressive policy in the inhabited regions of minority groups, including Tibet, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia. Also, the CCP repatriated more North Korean refugees despite the severe persecution they might experience afterwards.
The report also mentioned the continued persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and the crime of live organ harvesting. Political commentator Heng He remarked that the CECC annual reports are very detailed.
[Heng He, Political Commentator]:
”For example, on the issue of Falun Gong, this year’s report also mentioned persecution of human rights lawyers who helped Falun Gong practitioners. The report said names such as Wei Liangyue and Wang Yonghang. It also reported the fact that Gao Zhisheng had to serve a three-year imprisonment right at the end of a five-year period of suspension. These are very specific examples to verify the observations described in the report.”
The spokesman of Falun Gong, Zhang Erping said that the CECC annual report 2012 not only provides detailed and specific information, but also raised many new issues from previous reports.
[Zhang Erping, Spokesman of Falun Gong]:
”This report also covers the charge against the CCP of live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners. It is saying that China’s military hospitals may have been involved in illegal organ transplantations. The report clearly defines the 610 office as an extralegal agency to implement the persecution of Falun Gong. It cites the 3533 practitioners who [are known to have been] persecuted to death by June, 2012.”
This Thursday, the CCP’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei responded to the CECC’s report in a press conference. He stated that, “We hope the CECC abandons its prejudice against China and stops releasing similar reports which attack China for no reason, intervening in China’s internal affairs and damaging the China-US relations.”
Heng He remarked that the CCP could not deny the persecution of various religious groups mentioned in the report because it provides many different, solid sources to verify the information. For example, the report provides comprehensive statistics of self-immolation incidents of Tibetans both from the testimonies of multiple witnesses as well as some official information from the CCP authorities.
[Heng He, Political Commentator]:
”Furthermore, the report reflects CCP policies. For example, there is a full chapter in the report about the persecution of Falun Gong. In fact all the information there comes from the CCP’s official websites or files. You can’t argue that the report is not real because all the facts are actually from the CCP itself. Therefore it cannot be true that the CECC’s report is a hostile attack on China.”
Erping Zhang believes that the authority of the CECC’s report can help give broader exposure to the international community the CCP’s crime of persecuting Falun Gong, and thereby deter them from committing even more atrocious crimes.
[Zhang Erping, Spokesman of Falun Gong]:
”The CECC’s report on human rights is really released at a good time. The report can help American people and the global society know more about the violations of human rights taking place in China, especially the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The CCP has attempted to torture those people both physically and mentally, and has even abused the resources of an entire nation to achieve that goal.”
Heng He concluded that the detailed report by the CECC should help western politicians realize that they should not put economic interests first when making policies on China. If basic human rights are not protected, we lose our own conscience.
