As of April 8, over 71 million Chinese nationals had renounced the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations; rallies and parades have been held around the world to encourage them. According to the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP, more than 100 local “service centers” have been established in over 30 countries and regions, including booths in popular tourist spots. Recently, a veteran from southern China told The Epoch Times that local residents have begun meeting together to read the Nine Commentaries. It started in March of 2008 with a group of 11 people. Today there are 473 in the study group, and they represent every level of society, even including retired officers, he said. He added that he has word that such meetings have been established in up to 30 other counties. The Nine Commentaries is an editorial series published by The Epoch Times, sharply critical of the CCP and its rule over China. He also said that the study groups are generally open to the public at present, and have been attracting more and more people over time. No one reports the study groups to the police, he said. In an article published in minghui.org, a Falun Gong practitioner in central China’s Hubei Province wrote, “Dozens of teachers and 90 percent of the pupils in a primary school have renounced the CCP and its affiliated organizations. Usually, a teacher who renounces the CCP will encourage her students to quit the Young Pioneers and spread the information of the movement in the school. Over the weekends, some of the students came by my house, asking me to help them post their statements. Even when I was working in the field, they still managed to find me.” In China, Falun Gong practitioners have been distributing copies of the Nine Commentaries from door to door. Their commentaries online indicate that they are finding an increasingly receptive audience. Slogans about quitting the CCP, such as “Save our country by quitting the CCP, ” can be seen in public, especially since the New Year, sources said. Bills of Reminbi with handwritten slogans also spread the message of renouncing the CCP. Many CCP officials have withdrawn from the Party, too, in person or through the phones. A volunteer in a “Quit the CCP” booth close to the Eiffel Tower in France said that they were able to help several dozen, and sometimes up to a hundred, renounce the Party every day. Ms. Pan said, “We encouraged many of the CCP’s officers of various levels to withdraw from the CCP. Actually, it is not as hard as one might expect. Sometimes officers come to our booth with the purpose of quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations. ” Not long ago she helped a provincial Party Chief quit the CCP. “After I gave him a book of the Nine Commentaries and told him about the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong, he decided to quit the CCP by using an alias. He thanked me before he left.” Once, a volunteer in the Canada Service Center for Quitting the CCP called a high ranking officer in the Chinese Air Force, who told her that he was one of the on-site commanders at the Tiananmen Square Massacre on June 4, 1989. He said sadly to the volunteer, “What you are talking about is the truth; I know even more details since I was there on the scene. Now I have decided to quit the CCP.” After receiving an international phone call from the Quit the CCP service centre, a police commissioner said on the phone, “I want to leave myself a back door, too. Please help me to withdraw from the CCP. In addition, please help my family members—two want to quit from the CCP and two want to quit from the Youth League.” Ms. Pan said that she met many party chiefs from different levels who not only agreed to quit the CCP but also advised others to do the same. Sometimes a whole family would come to withdraw, and sometimes a whole group of tourists. “Once a Party chief who decided to quit ended up encouraging all the tourists on his bus to also submit withdrawal statements,” she said. At a tourist spot in Europe, a provincial level cadre brought a volunteer to their bus and told the other passengers about withdrawing. Every official on the bus followed his lead, Ms. Pan reported.
