My name is Yang Dadi. I graduated from Beijing University, and am now working in Beijing. Recently, my work place asked me to join the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). It is known to everyone that those who join the CCP are in it for benefits and promotions; no one really believes in the CCP.
Having experienced the 1989 Tiananmen Square student movement, I do have some basic understandings of the CCP. For example, if the CCP says white, my first reaction is that it is probably black. It is impossible for me to join the CCP. Furthermore I have long believed that I am no longer a member of the Communist Youth League (CYL).
In a conversation with a relative, I realized it is better for me to nullify the oath I took in the past when joining the CCP organizations. Therefore, I solemnly declare that I quit the CYL and the Communist Youth Pioneers. All those empty statements I made about following the Party are abolished. I will not stand together with the CCP.
