My name is Xu Yin and I am 46 years old. I have a Ph.D. degree in the field of civil engineering specializing in mechanics of structures. I taught in the Department of Civil Engineering in Tsinghua University in Beijing for 13 years. Almost every semester the evaluation of my teaching was among the top five percentile in the university. My students love and respect me. I was an associate professor before I left the country. During all the evil movements that the CCP has initiated, almost every family in China has been hurt at some level, including some leaders of the country. During the Tiananmen Square Massacre, students who chose to protest against corruption were violently suppressed. While the Tsinghua University students set up a memorial ceremony for three deaths, the spokesperson of China’s Department of the State, Yuan Mu, told the world on the radio and TV, “No one died and no bullet was fired” and the “riot” had ended. What did this regime bring to the people and why did it create such a blatant lie? I pondered and searched painstakingly, “Where is the way out for China?” I found Falun Gong. I pleasantly discovered that Zhuan Falun is a book that teaches people how to cultivate and inspires people’s kind nature with Truth-Compassion-Tolerance. It teaches people not to argue with others but to examine themselves. It makes me want to be a good person from the bottom of my heart. I became one of the tens of millions of Falun Gong practitioners and greatly benefited both mentally and physically. Unfortunately, in 1996, the News Publication Office of the Ministry of Publicity banned people from publishing, selling and possessing Falun Gong books. In 1997, the CCP Public Safety Department announced that Falun Gong was c*lt out of nowhere. I intuitively felt the coming of more repression. I struggled wondering why the CCP had to deprive the rights of practitioners. I signed a petition to the Department of State asking it not to suppress Falun Gong. I went to the peaceful appeal in front of the government complex in Beijing on April 25, 1999. The suppression still took place in July 1999. The CCP started to arrest practitioners countrywide and the persecution escalated. In 2001, the CCP staged the “Self-immolation” at Tiananmen Square to instigate hatred people’s hatred of Falun Gong. Hundreds of thousand of people arrested, imprisoned and tortured; thousands died as a result. Under the CCP’s mind control and being exposed to nothing but propaganda from the state media, it’s impossible for ordinary people not to believe deceptions. I wanted to be a good teacher and devoted myself to education. But the CCP still wouldn’t allow me freedom of belief. The police, officers from the 610 Office and staff from the resident committee stayed in front of my house around the clock to monitor my family’s every movement. The phone was tapped and the Internet was monitored. In the morning of March 13, 2006, two dozen police officers broke into my house and without showing any ID performed an illegal search. They arrested my wife and myself because they found Zhuan Falun in the house. This book was officially published by a state publisher before the suppression and was listed as one of the top ten best sellers. I was locked up for two years; 16 months in the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp in Beijing and eight months in a solitary compartment. I was forced to sit on a short stool in a certain way and face the wall for more than 18 hours a day. On the release document, it did not even say that I had committed any crime. What kind of party is this? Where is the justice?! I was still under surveillance after I retuned home and my freedom was restricted. I was threatened that I would lose my job if I didn’t stop the practice. I had no intention of stopping my belief in Falun Gong and that put me in the situation of being arrested and imprisoned again. A hard working professor was imprisoned for two years for no reason and I couldn’t protest when the CCP persecuted my wife and my child. I decided to come to the US where I can speak freely. I thank the American people who helped me. Though I have had nothing to do with the CCP for a long time, I still want to make a solemn statement to quit the Chinese Communist Youth League. This is to wash off my shame and to let the people of the world know the truth behind the CCP’s iron curtain. Xu Ying 2008-09-10
