On the afternoon of April 8, 2007, nearly a thousand people from around the world gathered at Manhattan's Union Square in New York City to declare their support of the over 20 million Chinese who have withdrawn from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. Attendees held large banners in both Chinese and English and chanted, "Heaven will eliminate the CCP!" voicing their strong feelings towards the disintegration of the Chinese communist regime. Also, various public officials added their support of the rally via radio station Sound of Hope's website.
The CCP Has Been UprootedGao Dawei of the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP recalled that the two-week endeavor known as "The CCP's Root is Already Removed," received support from many public officials and hundreds of associations around the world. Since the beginning of mass withdrawals from the CCP in 2005, Chinese society has undergone profound changes. One individual described the situation as being one in which "the populace has become aware, the troops' morale has slackened, and the heart of the Party has collapsed." The Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP has received numerous calls from mainland China explaining how the CCP henchmen, and other individuals involved in the widespread persecution, are being made to pay for their crimes. One police officer phoned to say that the head of the 6-10 office in Anhui Province jumped out of window and dropped several stories, causing great shock to the locals. Many others called in to report the miraculous events that occurred after they quit the CCP. Currently, the risks for well-known public figures in China who resign from the CCP have also decreased because the CCP's root has been pulled out. Chinese People Moving Closer to FreedomVice President of the European Union Parliament, Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, sent a letter of support to the rally in New York and also addressed the event via Sound of Hope Radio. He wished the best for those who have withdrawn from the CCP. Mr. McMillan-Scott said the European Parliament receives evidence on a daily basis revealing the many crimes of the Chinese regime. At the same time, he said that he could see that the Chinese people are getting closer to freedom on a daily basis. Over 100 national courts support taking steps to thoroughly investigating the CCP's reported crimes. The next Vice President of the European Union Parliament is scheduled to confront Chinese authorities concerning the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong adherents.
Former CCP Supporter's RealizationFormer head of the Communist Youth League at the Department of Foreign Languages in Shanghai's Fudan University, Lu Dong spoke at the rally saying that he had once hoped the CCP would undergo internal reform and had supported the CCP's interests overseas. Eventually he realized that the CCP had taken advantage of China's economic reforms for 14 years, stealing what rightfully belonged to the Chinese people. He has come to see the CCP for what it really is. Lu withdrew from the CCP and the procommunist organization, "Chinese Overseas Friendship Association," on the "Quit the CCP" website. He appealed to international students from China, and other Chinese people living abroad, to honestly consider the CCP's true nature and its persecution of Falun Gong.
Withdrawals Online and Live at RallyThrough the Sound of Hope's website, Professor Sun Wenguang from China's Shandong University spoke at the rally, condemning the CCP's lawless encroachment of private property. Sun expressed his support for those resigning from the CCP, calling their actions "effective resistance." Chinese journalists and democratic activists, including Gui Wanjiu, Sun Bu'er and He Weihua, added their support via Sound of Hope Radio. Other mainland Chinese including Li Fengqin from Hebei Province, Huang Qing and others from Fujian Province, Wang Yuehua and nearly a dozen well-known individuals from Shanghai all announced their resignations during the rally. Six members of the Chinese Freedom Democracy Party led by Zheng Kexue and eight members of the China Democracy Party World Union (including organization president Chairman, Wang Jun) also announced their withdrawals from the CCP. - Source: The Epochtimes
