By Zhou Xing, The Epoch Times, May 31, 2005- On May 20 a Member of the Canadian Parliament ( Stockwell Day) pointed out that Chinese people’s renunciation of their CCP membership is very significant (Canadian MP Speaks at the Future of Communism in China Conference). The Parliament member attended the Future of Communism in China Conference held at the University of Toronto and serves as the Foreign Affairs Critic for the Official Opposition and the Former Leader of the Official. He criticized the disregard and silence of both the Canadian and global media on numbers of Chinese renouncing CCP membership, as saying: “These shocking events have caused the Central Chinese Communist Party School to rush cadres to each of the 58 Provinces of China to organize study groups and to secure re-commitments to the CCP. It appears that this campaign in reaction to the “Nine Commentaries” may have boomeranged, as it has brought greater publicity to their existence and given greater currency to the words of the commentaries…. Not the least astonishing feature of this story- and certainly the most disappointing to me- is the almost total neglect of it by our media.” The day after the Parliament member’s statement on May 21, Canadian media reported on a Toronto rally and parade in support of 1.7 million Chinese people’s withdrawal from the CCP. Included in those reporting was The Canadian Press, the biggest Canadian news agency. In an article titled “Toronto demo held for the 1.7 million who have quit China’s Communist Party” they wrote: “People filled the lawn behind Queen's Park, Ontario's legislature, to speak out against China's Communist government and to award symbolic certificates to those who have quitted the CCP…. A number of speakers, including the editor of The Epoch Times and the president of the Chinese community center of the Greater Toronto Area, took the stage to commend the bravery of those who had renounced the party…. Some Torontonians joined the rally, which culminated with a march through the city’s Chinatown, to show solidarity for the cause.” In addition, two TV stations reported on the rally, Toronto’s local City TV and the national station CTV. CTV reported saying, “Such a rally and parade is one of similar activities held around the world. People are openly criticizing the ruling party of China.” One of those interviewed in the parade said, “The CCP has ruined the culture, tradition and moral standard of the whole country.” Indeed, these rallies have been held worldwide, attracting local, if not media, attention. Since 60 non-governmental organizations founded the Global Alliance to Say Goodbye to the CCP, last December, more than 200 forums and 25 rallies on the “Nine Commentaries” have been held in over 50 major cities worldwide. At a joint rally in Washington D.C. memorializing Zhao Ziyang and promoting the “Nine Commentaries”, over 200 non-government organizations and 100 VIPs attended in support. Just two months previous to the rally in Taiwan, a joint activity was held to promote people’s withdrawal of the CCP and also to express disagreement with China’s new Anti-SecessionLaw, which threatened armed invasion of Taiwan. Within just two days, over 100,000 people signed a petition to show their support for the movement of withdrawal from the CCP. Among those to recently withdraw from the CCP are over 25 officials from the School of the CCP Central Committee. In mid May they jointly withdrew using aliases. Citing their reasons for withdrawing in their declaration sent to The Epoch Times they said: “We are officials from different departments of the School of the CCP Central Committee. Among us there are officials and parties members who joined the CCP several decades ago, middle aged and young officials in charge, officials of the ministerial level, department and division level, general officials and staff, as well as intellectuals who hold a Doctor’s or Master’s degree. We think that you are practical and realistic and speak the truth. You have the courage to ruthlessly expose the CCP’s tyranny and the wicked deeds and words of corrupted CCP officials in all provinces and cities and at all administrative levels. You have exposed their entertaining, drinking, whoring, gambling, drug use, cheating, deception, and stealing. You have a sense of justice, responsibility and courage. If the billions of the Chinese people could all take as seriously the need to speak out from their sense of justice and have the courage to clarify the truth to expose the plots and deceits of the CCP’s tyranny, the day that China will have democracy, freedom, human rights and a proper legal system would not be so far away.” Withdrawals from the Chinese Communist Pasty have been pouring in since The Epoch Times published the “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party” on November 18, 2004, and only continue to increase. According to Guo Jun, global chief editor of The Epoch Times, the withdrawals have been pouring in ever since the first commentary of the “Nine Commentaries” was published. Since then the number of people who withdraw from the CCP has increased from 300 to 400 to a daily tally of between 20,000 and 30,000. According to the geographic statistics compiled from the CCP withdrawal website, 90 percent of the hits are from Mainland China. In addition, The Epoch Times’ Tuidang (Chinese for “Withdrawal from the CCP”) website has received many audio declarations of withdrawal. The wave of withdrawals from the CCP is growing bigger and bigger whether one is willing to face and accept it or not. It is worthy of worldwide attention and will soon be the biggest news in the world. The crimes that the CCP has committed against the Chinese people and tried to cover up in the past few decades will be revealed to the world and be condemned by the world’s people. - Source: The Epochtimes
