Before I decided to write this statement, I repeatedly asked myself why I wanted to make a public statement to withdraw from the CCP. Was I doing this as a formality or to show off as many people did during the various political movements of the Communist Party? After closely questioning myself, it became clear that it was definitely not a formality. The choice came from deep down in my soul.

I was born in a typical "revolutionary family." Both of my parents were members of the Communist Party and belonged to the generation that was "born in the new China, and grew up under the Red Flag." From infancy to adulthood, I received nothing but the Party’s education.......

It was the influence of this kind of education that made me submit an application for Party membership soon after entering the university. At that time, many of the university teachers and schoolmates were CCP members. As I got to know them better, I was astonished to discover that not a single one of them met the image of a Communist Party member that I had envisioned. Although most of them were not bad people, the overwhelming majority acted completely differently from what the propaganda had led us to believe about Communist Party members.

I have experienced many things that made me increasingly disappointed in the Communist Party, for instance, the ban of the Xidan democracy billboard and the proposed " Four Fundamental Principles." Then it was the June 4th Tiananmen Square massacre.

Although I had a pretty good understanding of the dark side of the Communist Party before that, like many naive and kind Chinese, I would still not have dreamed of this in a thousand years—the Communist Party blatantly opened fire on patriotic, democratic university students and commoners. After that atrocity, I thought that the Communist Party was surely doomed and would never change for the better.

What truly made me see the nature of the Communist Party clearly was the brutal, ongoing suppression of Falun Gong. Jiang Zemin single handedly initiated the persecution. As I understand it, Falun Gong advocates truthfulness, benevolence, and forbearance, and is a kind of practice and faith that strengthens one’s body and improves one’s moral standards.

Many of my long time friends practice Falun Gong. In the work place, they are conscientious workers who devote themselves to the common good. In society, they are law abiding citizens, kind to others. In the family, they respect the elderly, care for the children, and lead peaceful and harmonious lives. It is hard to find such decent people today. Moreover they have no interest and pursuits in politics. Even looking from a ruler's point of view, they all qualify as "good citizens." Their faith and conduct benefit the public, the government, and the entire nation. They cause no harm whatsoever.

What doubly shocked me was that the Communist Party would not let them be. In recent years, Jiang Zemin’s gang utilized the Communist Party and all sorts of evil hoodlum means, such as lies, fabricated accusations, and brutal violence. These deeds fully revealed the ferocious nature of the Chinese Communist Party.

Although they kept the power in their own hands and used all means to block the news, not allowing the public to know the facts, I was able to know the bloody inside stories and the extent of the cruelty. The Communist Party has publicized the torture and slaughter in the Baigongguan and Zazidong prisons that it used in the war against the Japanese and the Kuomintang. Compared to what the Party has done to Falun Gong practitioners, I can say without exaggeration that the atrocities committed against the POWs in those prisons were far, far inferior.

The inside stories of the persecution shocked me immensely and totally. If this Party were originally good, how could it have become so evil? With these kinds of doubts, I followed a friend's suggestion and began to read a massive amount of information available on the Internet regarding the history of communism and the Chinese Communist Party. That’s when I became thoroughly awakened to the fact that the Party education that we had received our whole lives was built totally on lies and deception. The Communist Party did not just become evil today. It has been evil from the very first day.

Today, as I celebrate that I have finally and thoroughly awakened from the Chinese Communist Party's deceit, I am anxious and worried for those compatriots who are still blinded by its deceit. Actually, I withdrew from the Party many years ago. I am publishing this statement, not only for myself, but also in hopes that my experience and action will awaken those compatriots who are still being deceived by the Chinese Communist Party.
